This Privacy Policy sets forth our policies and practices for the collection, use and sharing of your information for the Verizon Research Panel, including our website at researchpanel.verizon.com.

I. COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

We, and service providers acting on our behalf, collect personal information when you join our research panel and sign up for an account, when you communicate with us, including when you sign up and participate in research studies, and when you visit our website at researchpanel.verizon.com.

Information you provide directly to us. We, and service providers acting on our behalf, collect information when you join our research panel, including personal information you provide such as your name, email address, username and password, demographic information, wireless and internet services you use, and technology you use. If you attend research sessions, we also collect your responses to questions, video recordings of the session, and other information related to the study.

Information collected when you visit our website through cookies, pixels, and other similar web technologies. Cookies are small bits of information that are stored by your computer’s web browser. Pixel tags are very small images or small pieces of data embedded in images, also known as “web beacons” or “clear GIFs,” that can recognize cookies, the time and date a page is viewed, a description of the page where the pixel tag is placed, and similar information from your computer or device. We, and service providers acting on our behalf, collect information about your use of our sites or apps using cookies, pixels, web beacons, scripts, and other similar technologies. We use this information to analyze visitor activity on our site, administer our sites, assist in providing and presenting the research panel, and for other business purposes.

We use the information we collect to for business purposes including:

  • To determine whether you meet our needs for particular research studies and to invite you to participate in research studies and panels
  • Research and develop new products and services
  • Authenticate you
  • Secure and improve our products and services
  • Analyze the use of our website for our purposes, such as product, service and site enhancements
  • Detect and prevent potentially prohibited, fraudulent or illegal activities
  • For any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or with your consent

III. DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

We share information within Verizon, and with service providers acting on our behalf, as described in this section.

  • We share your information with service providers who do work on our behalf and may use information we share with them only for our purposes.
  • We may share information in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as a merger, consolidation, asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.
  • Legal purposes. We may disclose information (1) to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, law enforcement requests, legal claims or government inquiries and in emergencies such as those involving the danger of death or serious injury to any person; (2) to advance, protect or defend the rights, interests, property, safety and security of Verizon, our affiliates, users or the public; (3) to identify, protect against, and address unauthorized or unlawful use of our site or services; and (4) to outside auditors and regulators.

IV. YOUR CHOICES

Panelists may choose to leave the Verizon Research Panel at any time by signing into your Verizon Research Panel account, navigating to your profile, selecting “Unenroll from the panel,” then confirming your decision to submit your unenrollment. V. INTERNATIONAL USERS

Our site and service are designed for and targeted to U.S. audiences and are governed by and operated in accordance with the laws of the U.S. We make no representation that our site or service is operated in accordance with the laws or regulations of any other nation. By using our site or service and providing us with information, you understand and agree that your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction and, to the extent you are a resident of a country other than the United States, that you consent to the transfer of such data to the United States for processing by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Service providers we use to do work on our behalf may also use information for the same purposes. We share information with service providers as necessary for them to perform work for us. They are required to protect the information they receive from us or collect on our behalf and use it only for the specific purposes that we allow.

Our policies require that we retain records for as long they are needed for legal, tax, audit, investigative, and/or security purposes and then securely delete or destroy them.

You have the right to know the personal information we collect, how we use it, and how long we keep it. This right lets you ask us to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information if we use that information for purposes beyond what is needed to provide the products and services you request or for other reasons specified in the law. The California law defines sensitive information to include:

  • Account log-in
  • Precise geolocation
  • Racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, or union membership
  • Contents of your mail, email, and text messages unless we are the recipient of the communication

You have the right to inform us that you do not want your personal information sold or shared. We do not sell or share personal information as it is defined under California law, and we have not sold it in the past 12 months.

You have the right to not be discriminated against. We will not discriminate against you if you exercise any of the rights described in this policy. We will not deny your participation in one of our research panels if you exercise any rights described in this section.

Additional California Privacy Rights. Under California’s Shine the Light law, California customers may request, once per year, that we disclose the identity of any third parties with whom we have shared personal information for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes within the previous calendar year, along with the type of personal information disclosed. You can submit your request to ResearchPanel@verizon.com.

COLORADO

The Colorado Privacy Act gives specific rights to Colorado residents.

You have the right to know whether we collect personal information, what it is, and the purposes for which we use it. Colorado law requires us to let you know the categories of personal information we collect and the purposes for which we collect each category. Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect your personal information, some of which may be considered sensitive data under Colorado law. The law describes sensitive data as personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, mental or physical health condition or diagnosis, sex life or sexual orientation, or citizenship or citizenship status; processing genetic or biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying you; and personal data collected from a known child.

You have the right to tell us not to sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.Colorado consumers have the right to opt out of the sale of personal information and the right to opt out of processing of personal information for targeted advertising. The term “sale” is defined to mean the exchange of personal data for monetary or other valuable consideration and “targeted advertising” means using information obtained or inferred over time from your activities across non-affiliated websites, applications or online services to determine or predict your interests and display target our advertising to you. We do not sell personal information as it is defined under Colorado law and we do not use your personal information for purposes of targeted advertising.

You have the right to appeal.You can appeal a denial of your request to exercise any of the privacy rights provided by the Colorado law. If we deny your request, we will notify you and give you instructions on how you can appeal that decision to the Colorado Attorney General.

You have the right to know whether we collect personal information, what it is, and the purposes for which we use it. This privacy policy provides details about the Verizon Research Panel’s information collection and use practices. Connecticut law requires us to let you know the categories of personal information we collect and use.

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Information from your interactions with us and use of our products and services, such as contact, billing and other information, biometric information, identifiers, how you use our services and your devices, audio or visual information about your devices, how you use our sites and apps, how our network and your devices are working, and geolocation information about your wireless devices;
